GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) On the directions of the Deputy Director Punjab Food Authority (PFA), a district-wide inspection campaign was carried out to ensure provision of safe and quality food to the public.
According to official sources, a total of 111 inspections were conducted during the campaign, while 44 improvement notices were issued over violations of food safety standards.
Moreover, fines amounting to Rs. 108,000 were imposed on 11 food business operators for non-compliance with regulations.
The teams also collected 10 food samples for laboratory analysis, while 14.01 kilograms of expired and substandard food items were discarded during the operations. In strict action, an emergency prohibition order was issued to one food point over serious violations.
The PFA said that operations would continue without interruption to ensure provision of safe food, adding that strict legal action would be taken against violators.
