PFA lodges 2 FIRs, seals 4 food outlets in Lahore

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Feb, 2026) The Punjab food Authority (PFA) on Tuesday sealed two beef shops and two well-known milk outlets and lodged two FIRs during a crackdown against health-threatening elements in Hajipura, Johar Town and Ichhra.

The enforcement teams carried out the operation on the directions of Director General PFA Muhammad Asim Javaid. During the action, 190 litres of counterfeit milk were discarded, while chillers and freezers were confiscated from the milk shops.

The DG said the two milk outlets were sealed after their milk samples failed laboratory tests, and cases were registered accordingly. He added that poor hygiene conditions were observed at the premises, including open dustbins and the presence of insects.

Rusted hooks were being used for hanging meat, while meat stored in freezers lacked expiry dates. Employees were also found without mandatory medical and training certificates.

He said modern and simplified standard operating procedures (SOPs) had been introduced to further improve meat quality standards. The DG reiterated that continuous legal action was being taken against those involved in fraudulent practices and warned of zero tolerance for anyone endangering public health in line with the Chief Minister’s vision.

He urged citizens to support the PFA in eliminating the adulteration mafia and to report complaints on the authority’s 1223 helpline.
