PFA seizes fungus-infested preserves 12 maunds , fines owner

RENALA KHURD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams here on Wednesday seized and destroyed 12 maunds of fungus-infested and insect-contaminated preserves during a raid on a food processing unit , the official sources said .

The operation was conducted at a preserves manufacturing unit in Chak 23/2-L, where inspectors found large quantities of contaminated products, the authorities said.

They said chemical drums were being used for food storage, while the facility’s floors and walls were found to be unhygienic.

The food safety team destroyed hundreds of kilograms of preserves and imposed a fine Rs 100,000 on the owner.

Punjab Food Authority Director General, Syed Musa Raza said strict action would be taken against the violations in food production and storage practices.
