PFA seizes unwholesome meat

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Apr, 2026) Punjab food Authority (PFA) claimed on Sunday to have seized 600 kg

unwholesome meat from various parts of the district and later discarded.

In a crackdown in Multan, the PFA teams intercepted a vehicle at Babar

Chowk on Vehari road that was transporting meat from a slaughtered sick

animals and recovered 100 kg meat of foul-smelling meat and destroyed

on the spot. The driver has been handed over to the police with the vehicle

which have registered a case against the accused.

On a tip-off, the authorities raided an illegal slaughterhouse located

in Dokota (Qasaiyan Wala Mohalla) Vehari and seized around 320 kg

meat of dead animals.

Cases were registered against Zulfiqar and Ali Raza.

Meanwhile, in Khanewal, the Food Safety team conducted an operation

in Rana Town, Adda Wajhianwala, where nearly 5 maunds of stale, foul-smelling,

and highly contaminated meat were recovered from another illegal slaughter setup.

The meat was disposed of in accordance with safety protocols.

An FIR was got lodged against the owner, Abdul Khaleel, at Chabb Kalan Police Station.
