RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Rawalpindi Division on Monday organised training sessions for food handlers ahead of the Holy Month of Ramazan to ensure the provision of safe and hygienic food to the public.
According to a PFA spokesman, a session was held in Rawalpindi’s Commercial Market in collaboration with a private hotel, where more than 60 food handlers participated and raised queries on food safety practices. Similar training and awareness activities were also conducted on Murree’s Mall Road.
The spokesman said the consumption of oil-based foods increased during Ramazan, making it essential for food handlers to follow proper safety and hygiene standards. The participants were briefed on the use of rinsed oil, personal hygiene and cleanliness of premises, as well as the risks posed by expired food items, contamination and visible impurities.
He said the purpose of the pre-Ramazan training was to ensure the supply of clean and quality food to the public. Food handlers were also informed about safety equipment, while awareness pamphlets were distributed in Commercial Market and other areas.
He said training sessions were being conducted across the Rawalpindi Division, which comprises Murree, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock and Chakwal districts. He emphasised that medical screening of food handlers was essential to prevent the spread of diseases.
The spokesman urged citizens to report complaints regarding unhygienic food, contamination and other food safety violations through the PFA helpline 1223.
