PM felicitates newly-elected CPNE office bearers

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said a free, responsible and informed media is the main pillar of a democratic society, and vowed the government’s support for the promotion of press freedom and resolution of media issues.

In a congratulatory message to the newly-elected office bearers of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors, the Prime Minister congratulated CPNE President Kazim Khan, Secretary General Ghulam Nabi Chandio, Senior Vice President Ayaz Khan, Vice Presidents Shakeel Ahmed Turabi and Anwar Sajidi, Secretary Information Munazza Saham and other office bearers and expressed best wishes for them.

PM Sharif said that a free, responsible and informed media is the main pillar of a democratic society and expressed hope that the new leadership of CPNE would promote journalistic values, provide factual reporting and protect national interest.

He said the government would continue to provide all possible support to promote press freedom and resolve media issues.
