PM Shehbaz slashes diesel price by Rs32.12 per litre

Officials from Petroleum Division confirm that petrol prices will remain unchanged for the next seven days, starting from April 18

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 17th, 2026) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday announced a reduction of Rs32.12 per litre in the price of high-speed diesel (HSD), passing on the benefit of declining international oil prices to consumers.

The Prime Minister’s Office said that the new price of diesel has been fixed at Rs353.43 per litre, down from Rs385.54.

The prime minister said the government remains committed to ensuring that the impact of fluctuations in global oil prices is transferred to the public at the earliest.

Officials from the Petroleum Division confirmed that petrol prices will remain unchanged for the next seven days, starting from April 18.

In the previous price review, the government had reduced petrol by Rs12 per litre and diesel by Rs135 per litre.

The latest revision comes as global crude oil prices witnessed a sharp decline of around 13 percent in international trading amid easing geopolitical tensions and improved supply outlook.

Brent crude and US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) both fell significantly, touching their lowest levels since March 10 and recording their steepest single-day drop in recent weeks.

Market reports attributed the decline to developments suggesting continued stability in shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz and easing concerns over supply disruptions in global oil markets.
