PMD forecasts widespread rain across Sindh until July 27, warns of urban flooding

The PMD says a low-pressure system over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining areas, combined with strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea, is influencing weather conditions across southern and central parts of the country

KARACHI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 25th, 2026) Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rain across several districts of Sindh from Saturday through July 27, warning of possible urban flooding in low-lying areas due to an active monsoon system.

The PMD said that a low-pressure system over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining areas, combined with strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea, is influencing weather conditions across southern and central parts of the country.

The department said intermittent rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, is expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Khairpur, Dadu and surrounding districts until July 27.

The PMD warned that heavy rainfall could trigger urban flooding in vulnerable areas, particularly Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin and Hyderabad.

It also cautioned that strong winds and lightning may damage weak structures, electricity poles and other vulnerable infrastructure.

For Karachi, the weather department forecast mostly cloudy, hot and humid conditions over the next three days. Thunderstorms with rain are expected in the city’s outskirts on Saturday, while light rain or drizzle may occur in other parts of the metropolis.

The PMD added that intermittent drizzle is likely to continue in different areas of Karachi during the next three days.

The maximum temperature is expected to range between 33°C and 35°C on Saturday, rising to 34°C to 36°C on Sunday and Monday.
