Police arrest suspects in murder case

ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) The police said on Thursday they had resolved the murder of a young man whose body was found in Ghazi Brotha Lake last month, arresting two of his close friends on charges of killing him after allegedly administering intoxicants.

The police said Owais Iqbal went missing on March 31 after leaving home to meet friends and failed to return.

A kidnapping case was subsequently registered at Saddar Attock police station and an investigation launched.

The police later recovered Iqbal’s body from Ghazi Brotha Lake on April 10 and shifted it for a postmortem after completing legal formalities, they said.

According to police sources, investigators acting on directives from District Police Officer (DPO) Sardar Mowarhan Khan used modern investigative techniques and technology to trace the suspects.

The police arrested two suspects, identified as Aminullah Khan and Arslan, both residents of Jani Khel in northwestern Bannu district.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to administering intoxicating drugs to Iqbal, causing his death, before dumping the body into a canal, the police added.
