Police ensure tight security for Christian prayer services in Punjab

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2026) Punjab Police on Sunday implemented strict security arrangements during Christian prayer services held in churches across the province, including Lahore, with officers and personnel remaining on high alert.

On the directions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) were instructed to enhance security at churches and other important places. Supervisory officers were directed to personally inspect security arrangements to ensure effective implementation.

Additional police personnel and snipers were deployed at sensitive churches, while teams of Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force carried out effective patrolling in surrounding areas.

The IG Punjab directed that deployed personnel remain vigilant and maintain strict surveillance to prevent any untoward incidents. He also ordered the continuation of search and sweep operations around churches, Christian localities, and other sensitive locations.

Abdul Kareem emphasized the importance of interfaith harmony, urging religious scholars, members of the Christian community, and peace committees to play their role in promoting unity and tolerance.
