Police on high alert during Christian worship prayer programs

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Apr, 2026) On the special instructions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, Punjab Police remained on high alert and performed security duties across the province during Christian worship prayer programs held in churches, including in Lahore.

A Punjab Police spokesperson said that the IG Punjab had issued comprehensive directives to all Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to further strengthen security arrangements at churches and other sensitive locations. He directed supervisory officers to personally inspect security arrangements at churches and ensure foolproof protection measures.

According to the guidelines, additional police personnel and snipers were deployed at sensitive churches, while Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force teams were tasked with effective patrolling around worship places to ensure peace and security.

The IG Punjab instructed that all deployed officers and personnel must remain highly vigilant and keep strict surveillance on any suspicious or miscreant elements.

He further directed that search and sweep operations be continued around churches, Christian localities, and other sensitive areas to maintain law and order. Abdul Kareem also emphasized that religious scholars, members of the Christian community, and peace committee representatives should actively promote interfaith harmony and mutual respect, ensuring a peaceful and inclusive environment across the province.
