Police organizes workshop on intellectual property rights awareness

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) On the directions of the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Usman Akram Gondal, police organized a comprehensive workshop aimed at creating awareness about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) among senior police officials.

Senior Manager IPR, Barrister Malik Muhammad Bilal Haider, , delivered a detailed briefing highlighting the importance of Intellectual Property Rights in the modern era. He explained that IPR plays a vital role in protecting creativity, innovation, inventions, and business development. Intellectual Property Rights include legal protections such as patents, copyrights, and trademarks granted to individuals or organizations over their intellectual creations.

Addressing the participants, Barrister Bilal Haider emphasized that in today’s fast-paced and highly competitive world, protection of intellectual property not only safeguards the rights of creators but also strengthens economic growth, encourages investment, and promotes innovation. He added that the Government of Pakistan has established effective legal frameworks and institutions to ensure the protection of intellectual property at both national and international levels.

The workshop was attended by SSP Investigation Muhammad Tahir, SP Cantt Kainat Azhar, SP Sadr Munir Badar, SP Gulgasht Saifullah, along with SDPOs and Investigation Incharges from across the region.

Experts during the session noted that violations of Intellectual Property Rights, including piracy, counterfeit production, and brand infringement, cause significant economic losses and discourage creative talent.

Participants stressed the need for strict enforcement of laws and greater public awareness to combat such violations.

Officials highlighted that relevant institutions were actively organizing awareness campaigns, seminars, and workshops to educate students, business communities, and the general public about the significance of Intellectual Property Rights.

The session concluded with a collective commitment that respecting intellectual property was a shared responsibility of every citizen, as it forms the foundation for innovation, sustainable development, and a prosperous future.
