Polio campaign starts in Peshawar

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) A seven-day anti-polio campaign was launched in Peshawar on Monday under the supervision of the district administration, aiming to vaccinate 754,824 children under the age of five against the crippling disease.

A review meeting regarding the first day’s performance of the campaign was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Captain (Retd.) Sanaullah Khan.

The meeting was attended by administrative officers, District Health Officer, officials of the Health Department and other concerned authorities.

Officials informed the meeting that 2,496 teams have been deployed to go door-to-door to administer polio drops to children across the district. Strict security arrangements have also been put in place to ensure smooth and effective implementation of the campaign.

The Deputy Commissioner urged parents to extend full cooperation to polio teams and ensure that their children under five years of age are vaccinated, emphasizing that collective efforts are essential for the complete eradication of polio.
