KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Folio3, a US-headquartered artificial intelligence (AI) technology company, to explore the use of AI in enhancing the efficiency and performance of upstream oil and gas operations.

The MoU was signed by PPL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Khalid Rehman and Folio3 Chief Executive Officer Adnan Lawai at PPL's head office, said a news release issued here on Wednesday.

The signing ceremony was attended by Brig. Ajaz Ahmad Khan HI(M) (Retd), General Manager Shared Services at PPL, along with senior officials from both organisations.

Under the agreement, the two companies will explore opportunities to deploy AI across a range of operational and business functions, including drilling optimisation, exploration activities, predictive maintenance and enterprise operations.

According to PPL, the collaboration aims to accelerate the practical adoption of AI technologies by leveraging Folio3's expertise and capabilities, thereby promoting innovation and operational efficiency in the energy sector.

The company said the initiative reflects its commitment to embracing emerging technologies and contributing to the development of a smarter and more sustainable energy future for Pakistan.
