PRA to strengthen intelligence system to prevent tax evasion

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) will strengthen an effective monitoring and intelligence system to prevent tampering and irregularities in tax payments.

This was decided in a meeting on departmental performance and reforms, presided over by PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra here on Monday.

The Chairman directed the PRA Commissioners to initiate a special campaign to expedite the recovery of outstanding arrears.

During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given regarding the revenue collected from the services sector across the province in March.

The Chairman also instructed all Commissioners to set clear timelines for achieving the assigned targets of Enforcement Officers. He emphasized that without strengthening transparency and accountability mechanisms, an increase in revenue is not possible. He reiterated that providing facilitation to taxpayers and further simplifying the system remains the government’s top priority.

Moazzam Iqbal Sipra noted that establishment of Large Taxpayer Unit has contributed to increased tax compliance and reduced issues faced by the business community.
