Prime suspect in Kohat double murder arrested, weapon recovered

KOHAT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) Kohat police have arrested the prime suspect involved in a recent double murder case and recovered the weapon used in the crime, marking a significant breakthrough in the investigation, officials said on Wednesday.

According to police sources, the incident occurred on April 2, 2026, at Baqizi Market, where the accused, along with accomplices, allegedly opened indiscriminate fire. Two people were killed on the spot, while two others sustained serious injuries in the attack.

District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat, Shahbaz Elahi, took immediate notice of the incident and ordered swift action to apprehend those responsible.

Acting on his directives, SHO Mills Waqar Khan Afridi, along with his team, launched an intelligence-based operation to track down the suspects.

Following a tip-off, police conducted a targeted raid and arrested the main accused, Waqas, son of Shabbir, a resident of Tappi. A Kalashnikov rifle used in the crime was also recovered. Police said further investigation is ongoing, with raids continuing to arrest the remaining accomplices, assuring that all culprits will be brought to justice soon.
