Private hospitals empanelled at PHIMC provide free treatment worth Rs 17 bln : Kh Salman Rafique

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2026) Punjab Minister for Health Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the hospitals empanelled at the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company (PHIMC) have so far provided free treatment worth more than Rs 17 billion to patients under various special programmes, adding that the aim of the Chief Minister’s health initiatives is to reduce waiting lists and ensure maximum convenience for patients.

He expressed these views while chairing a meeting with officials of empanelled private hospitals at the PHIMC here on Friday . CEO Dr. Ali Razaq, Hasnat Ahmed, and representatives from various private hospitals attended the meeting, while others joined through video link.

The meeting reviewed measures to further improve the Chief Minister’s health initiatives. The minister was briefed on the monitoring framework of various health projects, service delivery mechanisms, and steps being taken to facilitate patients.

Khawaja Salman Rafique emphasized that providing the best possible treatment to patients remains the government’s top priority and that historic and fundamental steps are being taken in the health sector.

He stressed the need to ensure transparency in flagship programmes, improve service quality, and enhance patient convenience. He also directed hospital administrations to provide maximum facilities to patients and resolve their issues on a priority basis.

He further said that all available resources are being utilized to deliver the best healthcare services to the people of Punjab and to ensure that patients visiting empanelled hospitals do not face any difficulties. Representatives from Omar Hospital Lahore, Surgimed Hospital, Hameed Latif Hospital, Life Hospital, IMC Hospital, Farooq Hospital, Shalimar Hospital, Adil Hospital, Avicenna Hospital, Bahria International Orchard Hospital, University of Lahore Hospital, Central Park Hospital, Akhtar Saeed Hospital, and Sharif City Hospital Lahore participated in the meeting.
