ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) Pakistan sports board (PSB) has welcomed the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport Anti-Doping Division (CAS ADD) imposing lifetime bans on former Pakistan Weightlifting Federation President Hafiz Imran Butt and coach Irfan Butt for serious anti-doping rule violations.
The PSB considers this decision a significant step towards safeguarding the integrity of sport and holding accountable those involved in systemic doping practices, the Board said in a statement.
It is pertinent to highlight that the PSB had already taken decisive action in November 2025 by suspending and banning individuals involved in doping-related misconduct, following due process and multiple hearings.
The CAS decision now independently validates PSB’s firm and principled stance.
The PSB reiterates that it had announced a clear and uncompromising anti-doping policy last year, under which zero tolerance is ensured against any violation of anti-doping rules. In line with this policy, the individuals named in the CAS decision shall not be allowed to participate in any sports-related activity in Pakistan in any capacity whatsoever.
The PSB further affirms that full and strict compliance with the CAS decision will be ensured across all levels, without exception.
