Punjab govt emerges as global model for cultural connectivity and religious freedom: Aurangzeb Khan Khichi

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi Saturday lauded the inclusive policies of the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for enabling people of all faiths to freely observe their religious traditions while strengthening cultural heritage and international cooperation.

While speaking to ptv news, Minister Aurangzeb Khichi praised the Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz, along with the provincial minister and secretary for their dedicated efforts toward the preservation of cultural heritage and the promotion of religious freedom in the province.

He stated that the Punjab government’s initiatives were being recognized at the global level for strengthening cultural connectivity and inclusivity. He also appreciated the provision of supportive funding and institutional backing aimed at safeguarding heritage sites and promoting interfaith harmony across all communities.

The minister highlighted Pakistan’s rich cultural diversity, religious harmony and immense potential for religious tourism, noting that these strengths can play a key role in enhancing the country’s international image and cultural diplomacy.

He further emphasized that through collaboration and international support, Pakistan is committed to preserving and promoting its ancient Buddhist legacy and broader cultural heritage, reinforcing its dedication to global understanding, peace and interfaith cooperation.

He also noted that this year’s Vesak celebrations were being held at the government level with the participation of foreign ambassadors, describing it as a significant step toward promoting interfaith harmony and cultural inclusivity in Pakistan.

The minister praised the initiative as a reflection of the country’s growing commitment to respecting all religious traditions.

The minister further expressed optimism about the expansion of religious tourism in Pakistan, stating that such initiatives will help showcase the country’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage to the world.

He added that continued government support and international engagement would play a vital role in strengthening cultural connectivity and attracting global visitors.
