Punjab govt speeds up development work before monsoon

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) The latest status of the historic development programme of Rs. 204 billion has come to light in 15 districts of Punjab.

The government is taking important steps to speed up development work before start of monsoon rains.

According to the spokesperson for the Punjab Housing Department, 30.2 per cent development work has been completed in Sargodha, 26 per cent in Okara, 21.7 per cent in DG Khan, 20.2 per cent in Jhang, while 19.26 per cent in Gujrat, 18.30 per cent in Hafizabad, 14.

40 per cent in Faisalabad and 17 per cent in Sahiwal.

Likewise, according to the released details, 18 per cent development work has been completed in Jhelum, 11.40pc in Nankana, 8.5pc in Sheikhupura and 11.5pc in Multan, 8.65pc in Gujranwala, 7.2pc in Rawalpindi and 3 per cent in Sialkot.

In addition, the spokesperson for the Punjab Housing Department appealed to the citizens to adopt safety SOPs around development works and said that they should not go near deep excavation sites so that any possible damage can be avoided.
