LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Apr, 2026) Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin reviewed the progress on the Chief Minister Punjab’s flagship “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program during a meeting with Director General Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) Sikandar Zeeshan, here on Tuesday.

During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on the implementation and outcomes of the province-wide interest-free housing loan initiative being executed under the program. Officials informed the minister that interest-free loans worth Rs. 188 billion have so far been disbursed to deserving families for the construction of houses across Punjab.

It was further shared that more than 87,000 houses have been completed, while 45,000 housing units are currently under construction. A total of 133,990 eligible families have benefited from the scheme to date, while around 18,000 additional applicants are expected to be provided interest-free loans in the next phase.

The briefing also highlighted that beneficiaries have collectively repaid Rs.

9.67 billion in monthly installments, reflecting growing financial discipline among participants and strengthening the long-term sustainability of the program.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Bilal Yasin said the government remains fully committed to ensuring that every deserving family is provided with a dignified roof over their head. He stated that facilitating low-income segments in constructing their own homes with ease and dignity remains a top priority of the provincial government.

He added that, on the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, special focus is being given to women, orphans, and other vulnerable groups under the housing initiative.

The minister further noted that linking loan disbursement with phased construction has ensured transparency, accountability, and proper utilization of funds, making the program one of the most effective and result-oriented public welfare initiatives in the province.
