Punjab on high alert as IG orders tight security for Church services

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Apr, 2026) Security has been placed on high alert amid ongoing Christian worship and prayer services in churches across Punjab.

Inspector General Punjab, Abdul Karim, has directed all Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to further strengthen security measures at churches.

He emphasized that supervisory officers must personally visit the field to review arrangements, warning that any negligence will not be tolerated. Additional personnel are to be deployed at sensitive churches, with snipers positioned where necessary.

Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force teams have also been instructed to carry out effective patrolling.

Officers and personnel on duty have been directed to remain vigilant at all times and closely monitor any suspicious activity.

The IG Punjab further ordered the continuation of search operations around churches and Christian neighborhoods, stressing that law and order must be maintained at all costs.

He also urged religious leaders, the Christian community, and members of peace committees to promote interfaith harmony and actively contribute to maintaining a peaceful environment.
