Punjab Police on high alert during Christian worship services

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jul, 2026) Punjab Police remained on high alert and implemented enhanced security arrangements during Christian worship and prayer services held in churches across the province, including Lahore, on Sunday.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem had directed all Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs) and senior police officers to strengthen security at churches and other sensitive locations. He instructed supervisory officers to personally inspect security arrangements and ensure foolproof measures at all places of worship.

Under the security plan, additional police personnel and snipers were deployed at sensitive churches, while teams of the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU) and Elite Force carried out effective patrolling around churches to maintain law and order.

The IG Punjab directed all deployed officers and personnel to remain vigilant and keep a close watch on suspicious and anti-social elements. He also ordered the continuation of search and sweep operations in and around churches, Christian neighbourhoods and other sensitive areas to ensure the safety of worshippers.

Abdul Kareem also urged religious scholars, members of the Christian community and Peace Committees to continue promoting interfaith harmony and religious tolerance across the province.
