RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has removed encroachments, demolished unauthorised structures and sealed illegal commercial properties during an operation along High Court Road (Bostan Khan Road), as part of efforts to ease traffic congestion and improve the urban environment.
An RDA spokesman said that, acting on the directives of Commissioner Rawalpindi and Director General RDA, Engineer Aamer Khattak, the enforcement team had been deployed to ensure prompt and effective action, adding that shopkeepers were sensitised about the importance of preserving public spaces and complying with approved building plans and regulations.
During the operation, officials demolished unauthorised sheds and roadside platforms and cleared encroachments to restore the road and ensure smoother traffic flow. Several illegally established commercial properties were also sealed.
He said the initiative aimed not only to remove obstructions but also to improve pedestrian movement, facilitate traffic flow and promote a cleaner and more organised urban environment.
The authority warned that strict legal action would be taken against repeat violators and reiterated that illegal occupation of public land would not be tolerated.
The RDA said the operation formed part of a broader drive to modernise city infrastructure, reduce congestion and enhance the city’s overall appearance. Citizens were encouraged to report illegal constructions through the RDA hotline to enable timely action.
Reaffirming its commitment to urban discipline, the authority urged residents to cooperate and refrain from establishing unauthorised structures.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional Director General, RDA, Masood Ahmad Bukhari, with Director, Land, and In-charge Enforcement, Ghazanfar Ali Awan, Building Surveyor, Aamir Mahmood Malik, Asim Nawaz Khokhar, and enforcement staff also participating.
