Rescue 1122 deploys teams for 9th Muharram

GUJRAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has deployed rescue personnel, ambulances and medical response teams across Gujrat district to ensure the peaceful and safe conduct of Majalis and mourning processions on the 9th of Muharram-ul-Haram.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, a comprehensive emergency response plan has been implemented across all three tehsils of the district. A total of 35 events, including 23 Majalis and 12 mourning processions, are being held in connection with Muharram observances.

The officials said that the events have been categorised according to their sensitivity, with 10 placed in Category A, 20 in Category B and five in Category C.

More than 13,120 mourners are expected to participate in the religious gatherings and processions.

To provide emergency medical cover, Rescue 1122 has deployed 312 personnel and 37 volunteers. A total of 33 emergency vehicles and 45 motorcycle medical response units have also been stationed at key locations across the district.

They said that six events were in progress at the time of reporting, while the remaining programmes would commence according to schedule.
