RPO, DPO visit Imambargahs to finalize security strategy for Muharram

Dera Ismail Khan, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) Police authorities in Dera Ismail Khan have intensified preparations for Muharram-ul-Haram, with senior officials reaffirming that all necessary measures will be taken to maintain peace and security during religious gatherings.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ismail Khan Ghulam Mubashir Maken, along with District Police Officer (DPO) Ziauddin Ahmed, conducted a detailed visit to several Imambargahs, including those in Chah Syed Munawar Shah, Ustrana, and Kotli Imam Hussain areas, to review security arrangements ahead of Muharram.

During the inspection, the officials reviewed entry and exit points, congregation areas, and planned procession routes. They also held consultations with Imambargah administrators, custodians, and local community representatives regarding the schedule and security requirements of majalis and processions.

Police briefed the visiting officers on the proposed security plan, current arrangements, and coordination mechanisms with local stakeholders. The RPO stressed that the safety of participants attending religious gatherings would remain a top priority.

He instructed relevant officers to ensure effective implementation of the security strategy, particularly along procession routes and sensitive locations, and emphasized the need for close coordination with district administration, peace committees, and community leaders.

Officials said that efforts are underway to strengthen security and maintain interfaith harmony throughout the month of Muharram in Dera Ismail Khan, with regular visits and monitoring being carried out at key religious sites.
