RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa has directed to conduct search, combing, intelligence-based operations and snap checking across the region to further strengthen law and order and enhance security measures.

He issued these instructions while chairing the monthly meeting of the Regional Police Coordination Committee (RPCC) after assuming charge of his office.

The meeting was convened in line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab to improve institutional coordination and review the performance of all police units and districts.

The meeting was attended by City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, DPO Attock Sardar Mavarhan Khan, RO Special Branch Javeria Jameel, RO CCD Beenish Fatima, SSP RIB Zunaira Azfar, SSP Investigation Nasir Ali Khan, SSP Operations Tariq Mehboob, RO PHP SP Faisal Saleem, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam, SP Safe City Authority Amina Baig, SP Legal Abdul Farooq, a representative of RO CTD and ADIG Naeem Akhtar Malik, along with other concerned officers were present.

DPO Jhelum Shafiq Ahmed Chaudhry, DPO Chakwal Kashif Zulfiqar, and DPO Murree Raza Tanveer Sapra also attended the meeting via video link.

The meeting discussed the implementation of previous decisions, the overall law and order situation in the region, crime prevention strategies, and the performance of various police wings.

Security arrangements for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor CPEC and non-CPEC projects, particularly the protection of Chinese nationals and other foreign residents, were also discussed in detail along with monitoring of sensitive installations.

RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa stressed the need for enhanced coordination among districts and units to modernize policing standards. He directed supervisory officers to personally oversee investigations in cases involving women and children, ensure timely disposal of pending cases, and accelerate efforts to arrest proclaimed offenders.

He further ordered strict action against illegal residents, Tenancy Act and emphasized the use of modern systems including Hotel Eye, and travel Eye software to improve operational efficiency. Senior officers were also instructed to personally supervise security at inter-provincial and riverine checkpoints.

In view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, the RPO directed foolproof security arrangements at cattle markets, mosques, imambargahs, and Eidgahs.

Highlighting the importance of securing key installations, especially CPEC-related projects, he instructed daily security checks and strong vigilance measures. He also ordered the tracing and arrest of absconding suspects and emphasized that senior officers should directly supervise investigations in serious cases to ensure effective prosecution and convictions.

The RPO stated that Rawalpindi Region Police is utilizing all available resources to protect citizens’ lives and property and remains fully alert to respond to any untoward situation. He added that the establishment of the RPCC has significantly improved inter-departmental coordination, which is crucial for effective policing and maintaining peace in the region.

Future strategies and operational plans were also finalized in light of the recommendations presented during the meeting.
