RPO reviews security arrangements for 11th Muharram Procession in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Region Babar Sarfraz Alpa visited the main 11th Muharram procession held at Chohar Chowk on Saturday to review the security arrangements in a bid to ensure comprehensive measures for maintaining law and order.

Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Malik Abrar Ahmed was also present during the visit.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Rawalpindi briefed the RPO on the security plan and deployment for the procession.

During the inspection, the RPO reviewed the procession route, entry and exit points, security checkpoints, CCTV surveillance, and other safety measures.

He directed police officers and personnel to perform their duties with vigilance, professionalism and dedication, emphasizing that foolproof security must be ensured under all circumstances.

Babar Sarfraz Alpa instructed officials to remain on high alert throughout the Muharram processions, maintain strict surveillance of suspicious individuals and activities, and utilize all available resources to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.

He also stressed the importance of implementing the government's code of conduct and ensuring effective coordination among all relevant departments to maintain a peaceful environment during Muharram.

Reaffirming the police's commitment, the RPO said that the Rawalpindi Region Police is utilizing all available resources to ensure peace and security throughout the observance of Muharram.
