Rs. 3.97 million fine imposed, 294 shopkeepers arrested in Ramzan crackdown

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2026) The district administration imposed fines worth Rs. 3,972,500 and arrested 294 shopkeepers during the first two Ashras of Ramzan as part of a major crackdown to ensure the sale of essential commodities at officially fixed prices.

According to official figures, a total of 8,607 shops were inspected across the district. During the operations, 294 shopkeepers were arrested for violating government price lists, while 340 shops were sealed.

The administration stated that the fines were imposed on those involved in overcharging and violating the official pricing mechanism.

Officials emphasized that providing relief to the public remains a top priority, adding that profiteering and hoarding will not be tolerated under any circumstances. They further stated that the crackdown would continue without interruption throughout the holy month.

The district administration has urged citizens to report any instances of price list violations so that prompt action could be taken against those responsible.
