Rs20bn project in Toba Tek Singh to ensure universal sewerage coverage by 2027: commissioner

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) Divisional Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen said that a comprehensive development drive aligned with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz is in full swing in Toba Tek Singh district where Rs20 billion Punjab Development Programme is being implemented to upgrade and rehabilitate sewerage infrastructure, with a target to ensure that no street or neighborhood remains without a standard drainage system by June 2027.

She was chairing a briefing at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Toba Tek Singh during her visit to the district.

Deputy Commissioner Umar Abbas Baloch and officers of departments executing development schemes were also present on the occasion.

The meeting was informed that in addition to Punjab Development Program, development initiatives worth Rs45 billion were being executed under the District Annual Development Program (ADP), covering 50 projects while 40 schemes under the CEP program were also underway. Four model villages and two model bazaars are under construction whereas three beautification schemes are nearing completion.

The divisional commissioner stressed for expeditious completion of all public welfare projects under the District ADP, Punjab Development Program, Punjab Cities Program and CEP, making it clear that there would be zero tolerance for any lack of transparency.

She said that she was visiting districts and tehsils on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz to review progress on public welfare initiatives and key performance indicators.

She directed the officers of executing departments to ensure completion of projects within stipulated timelines, emphasizing that no compromise would be made on quality.

She said that urban beautification remained a top priority of the provincial government and all ongoing schemes must be completed within the given timeframe.

During briefing, she issued instructions to the deputy commissioner for early completion of the wastewater treatment plant in Kamalia without delay.

She also reviewed progress on the food street project in Toba Tek Singh and ongoing works related to renovation and rehabilitation of parks, directing the authorities to transform parks into true recreational spaces while enhancing aesthetic appeal of the city.

The divisional commissioner also ordered acceleration of recovery of government dues, directing assistant commissioners to personally lead the campaign and achieve targets by June 2026.

She reviewed implementation of Green Property Certificate initiative and progress on the wheat procurement campaign, directing the officials to intensify awareness efforts to ensure direct purchase of wheat from farmers.

She made it clear that no excuse would be accepted in implementation of public welfare measures and directed all departments to remain fully focused on achieving targets.

Earlier, the divisional commissioner planted a sapling at the city park under a tree plantation campaign and appreciated the recreational facilities available for families and citizens.

She also visited Sahulat Bazaar, the general bus stand, beautification projects and other development sites, reviewing availability, quality and prices of essential commodities for consumers.

Later, she visited the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, inspected emergency, general and other wards, inquired after patients and verified availability of medicines.

She reviewed duty rosters of doctors and staff, assessed cleanliness standards and checked the functionality of medical equipment.

She said that the hospital would be further upgraded to ensure provision of quality healthcare facilities, adding that steps were underway to establish additional departments so that patients could receive comprehensive treatment under one roof.

The divisional commissioner also reviewed overall sanitation conditions across the city and directed authorities to maintain high cleanliness standards to ensure a healthy urban environment.
