RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jun, 2026) The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has temporarily shifted its waste transfer operations from the Liaquat Bagh Transfer Station to an alternative site at Committee Chowk (Sunday Bazaar) due to ongoing construction and development work at the facility.
According to an RWMC spokesperson on Sunday, all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure the uninterrupted provision of sanitation services during the temporary relocation.
He said that the alternative site would remain operational while improvement and construction work continued at the Liaquat Bagh Transfer Station. To maintain safety standards and operational efficiency, he said, the existing site has been covered with protective green sheeting, while waste transfer activities and cleanliness measures were being monitored regularly.
He said that special attention was being given to public convenience and health, adding that efforts were underway to ensure that the temporary transfer does not cause inconvenience to residents or lead to environmental pollution.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The spokesperson said that the interim arrangement was expected to remain in place for approximately 7 to 10 days. Upon completion of construction, all waste transfer operations would be returned to the Liaquat Bagh facility.
He said that the RWMC was taking proactive measures to maintain cleanliness across the city and assured residents that the temporary setup would be removed promptly upon completion of the project, with the area restored as a clean, pollution-free, zero-waste zone.
The sanitation teams are continuing routine cleaning operations across Rawalpindi and that no disruption will be allowed in the collection, transfer or disposal of waste despite the temporary arrangements, the spokesperson added.
