ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Mar, 2026) In line with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's good governance initiatives, the district administration has taken stern action to ensure fair treatment of passengers at transport stands.
Following complaints received during the online open court conducted by Commissioner Hazara, Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram directed Additional Assistant Commissioner-II Havelian, Samira Mehsud, to carry out a detailed inspection of public transport stands in the area.
The inspection aimed at the strict implementation of the officially notified fare rates fixed by the government and to safeguard commuters from overcharging by transporters.
During the checking, public transport vehicles were thoroughly inspected. Drivers were strictly instructed to prominently display the prescribed fare chart at visible places inside their vehicles and to adhere to it without any deviation.
In several cases where the fare chart was found missing or not displayed, on-the-spot warnings were issued to the drivers concerned.
The fitness certificates of vehicles were also verified. Those vehicles found without valid or with expired fitness certificates were immediately directed to get the matter rectified on priority.
Availability and working condition of fire extinguishers were checked as well. In instances of missing or non-functional extinguishers, owners/operators were ordered to provide serviceable ones without delay.
Driving licenses of drivers were examined, and those operating without a valid license or with an expired/invalid one received strong warnings.
