SCCI adopts resolution lauding role of country's leadership to reach ceasefire

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) Executive Committee of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here on Friday unanimously adopted a resolution appreciating Pakistan’s civil and military leadership's role as mediator for brokered US-Iran ceasefire calling it a significant diplomatic breakthrough and economic opportunity.

The resolution was adopted during a meeting of the executive committee chaired by SCCI President Junaid Altaf held at chamber’s house. The resolution was moved by Chamber’s Secretary General Muqtasid Ahsan highlighting Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability, said a release issued here.

Ghazafar Bilour, leader of Businessman Forum and former FPCCI president, former presidents Haji Muhammad Asif, Zahidullah Shinwari, Malik Niaz Ahmad and Faiz Muhammad Faizi, former senior vice president Shahid Hussain, Naeemur Rehman, Saddar Gul, Ihsanullah, Ishtiaq Paracha, Aqeel Kiyani and Rashid Iqbal Siddiqui attended the meeting as observer.

Apart from discussing routine rules of business, the participants called upon the Federal and provincial governments to announce a special incentive package in the upcoming fiscal budget for revival of business and industry and trade in KP.

It furthermore said Pakistan’s diplomatic and leadership efforts, especially the vital role of CDF, Field Marshal and COAS General Asim Munir in easing tensions between the leadership of Iran and the United States is highly laudable.

Earlier, Businessmen stated that the strategic acumen, diplomatic foresight, and courageous leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir played an important role in preventing potential large-scale global conflict.

President Junaid Altaf commended Pakistan's successful foreign policy reflected in the US-Iran truce. He added Pakistan has not only played a key role in promoting peace but also strengthened its identity as a responsible and effective member of the international community.

SCCI chief noted that leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir and the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is being widely appreciated across the world, reflecting the success of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

He said that development not only underscored Pakistan’s growing role on the global stage but also opened up new economic opportunities, particularly in energy, trade and industrial growth besides raising hopes for longer-term stability in the region.
