BANNU, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) The district police on Saturday successfully carried out a series of large scale operations targeting militants, drug traffickers and illegal arms dealers.
In a major search and combing mission focused on Miryan and Mandan areas, a heavy police force including Bomb Disposal Unit and Quick Response Force raided various hideouts. This coordinated effort led to detention of 25 suspects and timely defusal of an improvised explosive device (IED), which prevented a potentially devastating attack.
Simultaneously, police intensified their crackdown on local narcotics trade and possession of unauthorized weapons.
During joint raids conducted by Miryan and Jani Khel police stations, two major drug traffickers were apprehended with over 1.3 kilograms of hashish.
Additionally, two other individuals were arrested for carrying illegal firearms, resulting in seizure of three pistols.
The Bannu Police have registered formal cases against all those arrested.
District Police Officer (DPO) Yasir Afridi praised police for their efforts and pledged to continue district-wide operations to ensure law and order.
