Secretary Works holds meeting regarding Shaheed Benazir Bhutto flyover project

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Mar, 2026) A review meeting regarding the activation and completion of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Flyover was held at the Commissioner Office under the chairmanship of Secretary Works & Services Sindh Muhammad Nawaz Sohoo.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Hyderabad Division Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, Director General HDA Ms. Afshan, Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abideen Memon, Mayor Kashif Shoro, contractors from the Works & Services Department and other concerned officials.

According to a handout, during the meeting, officials of the works & services department presented a detailed briefing on the current status of the flyover, road mapping, encroachments and other impediments along with the proposed roadmap for completion of the project.

It was informed that the construction of the flyover had remained incomplete for a prolonged period due to various reasons, however, on the directives of the government of Sindh, efforts are now underway to revive and complete the project located between Akram Wah Bypass and Tando Jam Road.

Secretary Works & Services, Muhammad Nawaz Sohoo directed that feasibility and necessary clearances must be ensured prior to the commencement of construction work. He further instructed that encroachments be removed and alignment be finalized so that work can begin in phases. It was also highlighted that land acquisition has already been completed, and the initial phase will be started from the backside and ramps of the flyover.

Following the meeting, the secretary works & services, commissioner, deputy commissioner, DG HAD and mayor along with relevant officials visited the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Flyover site to review progress on ground. During the visit, the commissioner directed the concerned authorities to expedite work on this long-pending project and ensure its timely completion to provide improved commuting facilities to the public.
