MUZAFFARGARH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) Safe City Authority on Monday organized a seminar at Govt Postgraduate College Muzaffargarh to create awareness among the youth about the importance of blood donation, the establishment of a virtual blood bank, and the use of “Panic Button”

program to prevent harassment incidents involving women.

A large number of students and faculty members attended the seminar, during which

on-site blood group testing was also conducted for participating students.

According to Safe City sources, the event featured addresses by DSP Safe City Authority

Sheikh Tariq Sattar, District Manager Muhammad Rizwan, Assistant Manager Muhammad

Nabeel, Communication Officer Rais-uz-Zaman, and Principal Dr. Ashraf Hussain.

The speakers emphasized that thousands of patients across the country lose their

lives due to the unavailability of the correct blood group at critical times.

They highlighted that under Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Safe Punjab”

vision, the Safe City Authority’s Virtual Blood Bank initiative plays a vital role in saving lives.

The program has already helped save thousands of lives by connecting donors with those

in urgent need. The purpose of organizing awareness seminars in educational institutions,

they added, was to encourage more volunteers to come forward and donate blood.

Special attention was also given to informing female students about the “Panic Button” initiative.

Speakers explained that this facility allows women, especially students, to seek immediate

help in cases of harassment by using panic buttons installed on Safe City camera poles.

They noted that this innovative measure has significantly contributed to curbing harassment

incidents.

At the end of seminar, students not only got their blood groups tested but also registered

themselves as volunteers for the Virtual Blood Bank program. Participants appreciated the

initiative and termed such programs highly beneficial for society.
