Seminar, tree plantation drive organized at Habib Sugar Mills to mark World Earth Day

NAWABSHAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) An awareness seminar and tree plantation drive were organized on the occasion of World Earth Day 2026, at Habib Sugar Mills Nawabshah.

The seminar was organized under the directives of Sindh government. Advisor for Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development, Dost Muhammad Rahimoon, Secretary Environment Zubair Ahmed Channa, and Director General SEPA Waqar Hussain Phulpoto were guests of honor on the occasion.

The event was conducted under the supervision of Regional Incharge SEPA, Dr. Gul Ameer Sunbal, and was attended by members of the SEPA team and representatives of Habib Sugar Mills.

During seminar, discussions were held on environmental protection, reducing pollution, and adopting improved industrial practices.

Participants were also briefed on the importance of compliance with the Sindh Environmental Protection Act 2014.

A tree plantation activity was also carried out on the occasion, during which saplings were planted within the mill premises to promote a healthier environment and help mitigate the impacts of climate change. Speaking at the event, Dr. Gul Ameer Sunbal said that World Earth Day serves as a reminder that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility.

He appreciated the efforts of Habib Sugar Mills management and emphasized that such initiatives are the need of the hour. At the conclusion of the program, all participants reaffirmed their commitment to continue efforts for environmental protection.
