SEPA Organizes Tree Plantation Campaigns, Awareness Seminars. Walks

HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jun, 2026) In connection with World Environment Day activities, the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) District Office Jamshoro organized various events and tree plantation campaigns to promote environmental protection and afforestation. Neem and other saplings were planted at different locations including Jamshoro, SITE Kotri and the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) at Mehran University.

As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, SEPA Jamshoro in collaboration with Archroma also organized an event at Mehran University featuring a tree plantation drive and environmental awareness sessions.The objective of the event was to raise awareness about environmental protection, sustainable development and eco-friendly practices. Speaking on the occasion, SEPA Jamshoro District In-charge and Deputy Director Qutubuddin Dars said that the agency would continue its efforts for environmental protection, pollution control and the promotion of a greener environment.

Addressing the participants, he stated that trees play a vital role in reducing air pollution, mitigating the impacts of climate change and safeguarding human health. He emphasized that tree plantation is a social responsibility of every individual. Representatives of Archroma informed participants that the company follows environmentally friendly policies in its industrial operations and is taking measures to minimize its environmental impact. Archroma representative Sajid Junejo said that environmental protection is a collective responsibility and that the company will continue its efforts in this regard. He added that tree plantation and environmental responsibility remain among the company's key priorities.

Haleon Pharma also supported the plantation campaign and planted saplings in Jamshoro and SITE Kotri. Representatives of the organization reaffirmed their commitment to environmentally friendly initiatives and corporate social responsibility.

Government officials, civil society representatives, and students participated in the plantation drive and pledged to take care of the newly planted trees. During the awareness sessions, participants were educated about the importance of trees, environmental pollution and climate change. Meanwhile, an awareness walk was organized in Matiari with the support of China Health Laboratory. The walk started from Shahi Bazaar and concluded at the Matiari Press Club. A large number of students, civil society representatives, government officials and citizens participated in the walk. The participants stressed the need for collective efforts to protect the environment and address the challenges posed by climate change. On the occasion, SEPA Matiari District In-charge Qutubuddin Dars stated that environmental protection is a shared responsibility of all citizens. He urged the public to play their role in reducing pollution, conserving natural resources and promoting environmentally friendly lifestyles.

SEPA Chemist Dr. Muhammad Ali in his address highlighted the harmful effects of water and air pollution, improper waste disposal and the use of hazardous chemicals.

SEPA District Office Matiari reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the global message of environmental protection at the local level through eco-friendly activities and public awareness campaigns.
