LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Apr, 2026) A total of 4,748 inspections were carried out in Lahore, fines of Rs 218,000 imposed, and seven persons
arrested during an ongoing price control campaign led by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz.
According to official sources, action was taken against 44 violations during the inspections conducted
across the city during the last 24 hours to curb profiteering and ensure implementation
of official price lists.
The report said that prices of potatoes, onions and tomatoes remained stable, while a decrease
was recorded in the rates of garlic, okra and pumpkin in local markets.
The deputy commissioner directed officers concerned to strictly enforce the zero-tolerance policy against overcharging and ordered indiscriminate action against hoarders. He said continuous monitoring of demand and supply in vegetable markets was being ensured, adding that effective supply chain oversight had helped maintain market balance.
DC Muhammad Ali Ijaz reiterated that the crackdown against profiteers would continue without interruption to provide relief to the public.
