LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jul, 2026) At least seven people were killed and 1,484 others injured in 1,271 road traffic crashes across Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to the Emergency Services Department (Rescue 1122).
The spokesperson for Rescue 1122 told media on Saturday that 676 critically injured victims were shifted to hospitals, while 808 people with minor injuries were treated at the scene by rescue medical teams.
The spokesperson added motorbikes were involved in 76 per cent of the crashes, stressing the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline to reduce accidents.
According to the data, 863 drivers, 55 underage drivers, 157 pedestrians and 471 passengers were among the victims.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Lahore recorded the highest number of accidents with 282 crashes affecting 336 people, followed by Multan with 88 crashes and 96 victims, and Faisalabad with 78 crashes injuring 84 people.
A total of 1,491 victims were affected, including 1,210 men and 281 women. Of them, 315 were below 18 years of age, 775 were between 18 and 40 years, while 401 were above 40.
The crashes involved 1,358 motorcycles, 94 auto-rickshaws, 144 cars, 29 vans, 13 passenger buses, 33 trucks and 65 other vehicles and slow-moving carts, the spokesperson added.
