Several illegal fishermen arrested from Tarbela Dam

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Apr, 2026) In a joint operation conducted against illegal fishing at Tarbela Dam in Haripur district, several fishermen were arrested, police informed on Wednesday.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of DSP Masood Khan and Assistant Commissioner Ghazi, Junaid Aftab and l aw enforcement agencies, along with representatives from the Fisheries Department.

During the operation, multiple locations around Tarbela Lake and nearby spillways were inspected. Authorities apprehended several fishermen nvolved in unlawful fishing activities and took action against violations of fisheries regulations.

Residents from surrounding areas, including Haripur, Ghazi and Khanpur, appreciated the coordinated efforts of the concerned departments. They emphasized the importance of continuing such operations on a regular basis to protect natural resources and prevent environmental damage.

The district administration reiterated that illegal fishing is a punishable offense under the law. Citizens have been urged to refrain from such activities, warning that strict legal action will be taken against violators.
