LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June 29th, 2026) Kingsmen academy managed to salvage the opening day of the President’s Trophy Grade-II Gold final by first posting 247 all out from a precarious position of 67 for five and then taking three MIT Solutions wickets including one on the last ball of the day at the Abbottabad cricket Stadium on Monday.

MIT Solutions were 102-3 in 20.5 overs at close of play with Abdullah Shafique unbeaten on 21 and 145 runs in arrears. Earlier, No.5 batter Muhammad Shayan made sure, with his solid 142, that Kingsmen Academy register a competitive first innings total after early strikes from MIT bowlers accounted for their five batters in first 17.4 overs.

Shayan arrived at the crease after opening batter Affan Ishaq’s (31, 48b, 4x4s) departure with 67-3 on the board and immediately saw the back of his teammates Najab Khan (14, 21b, 1x4, 1x6) and Ahmed Hussain for a tw0-ball duck before bedding in for his brilliant knock.

He first stitched a 25-run stand with Rana Faseehullah (6, 20b, 1x4) before MIT struck back again with two quick wickets courtesy left-arm spinner Muhammad Irfan to reduce Kingsmen to 104-7 in 28.3 overs. At this juncture Muhammad Faizan Ghani (16, 32b, 2x4s, 1x6) stuck around for a valuable 54-run stand off 74 balls with Shayan doing much of the scoring.

Another two wickets for Irfan in a space of 22 balls left Kingsmen 178-9 in 44.3 overs as no.11 Muhammad Rafi joined Shayan, who was 83 off 93 at the time.

He holed out to long off on the first ball of the 66th over having faced 179 balls and became pacer Khubaib Khalil’s third victim. Left-arm pacer Muhammad Imran Jnr picked up two wickets.

In turn, MIT’s opening duo Husnain Nadeem (44, 52b, 6x4s, 1x6) and Afaq Ahmed (12. 29b, 1x4) put on 46 runs on the board before both departed in a space of 33 balls. Abdullah Shafique’s 21 not out off 26 balls including two fours stabilized the innings before losing Abuzar Tariq (17, 20b, 2x4s, 1x6) on what turned out to be the last ball of the day.
