MAKKAH MUKARRAMAH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2026) The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques has officially announced the Names of the esteemed Imams appointed to deliver the Friday sermon (Khutbah) and lead the prayers at Masjid Al Haram and Masjid An Nabawi (PBUH)for the first Friday of the new Islamic year 1448 AH.
According to the official schedule, Dr. Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah bin Humaid, who serves as an Acting Royal Advisor and Senior Imam and Khateeb of Masjid Al Haram, will deliver the Friday sermon from the pulpit of the Holy Kaabah, focusing on a vital topic to guide the Muslim Ummah.
Concurrently, renowned Islamic scholar and Imam, Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Suleman Al Muhanna, will deliver the Friday sermon and lead the congregation at Masjid An Nabawi in Madinah Munawwarah.
It is worth noting that, in line with annual traditions, the Kiswah (ghilaaf) of the Holy Kaabah was replaced on the 1st of Muharram to mark the beginning of the new Islamic year 1448 AH.

With the start of the new Islamic year and the first Friday of Muharram Al Haram, elaborate arrangements have been finalized to manage the massive influx of Umrah pilgrims, remaining Hajj pilgrims, and local worshippers at both the Holy Mosques.
The administration has made special arrangements for the seamless distribution of Zamzam water, enhanced security, and round-the-clock cleaning services to facilitate worshippers.
As per established practice, the Friday sermons will be broadcast live with simultaneous translations in urdu and other major international languages to ensure that non-Arabic speaking pilgrims from across the globe can easily understand the guidance and teachings of the venerable Imams.
