KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Apr, 2026) The Sindh Fisheries Department has completed the registration of 7275 fishermen and 8253 fishing boats while fines of over Rs 3.57 million were collected for illegal fishing since enforcement of relevant laws.
It was stated in a meeting held here at Karachi Fisheries Harbor Authority with Sindh Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani in chair to review matters pertaining to the Provincial Fisheries Regulatory Task Force, said a statement issued here on Tuesday.
Two individuals have completed the documentation process for jetty registration and all the applicants who fulfill the specified terms and conditions and assure provision of all required facilities to the fishermen will be granted jetty licenses, the meeting was further informed.
The provincial minister stressed on provision of facilities to the fishing industry under one-window operation and also clarified that CNIC is mandatory for registration of fishermen and fishing boats and those who do not possess a valid national identity card will not be registered.
The meeting was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Livestock and Fisheries MPA Asif Khan, Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi, Chairperson Fishermen Cooperative Society Fatima Majeed, Director General Marine Fisheries Department Dr. Mansoor Wassan, MD Karachi Fisheries Harbor Authority Zahid Hussain Khemtiyo, Director General Sindh Marine Fisheries Dr. Asim Karim, senior officers of Pakistan Coast Guard, Maritime Security and Sindh Police.
