KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2026) The Sindh food Department , in a major crackdown against corruption, on Tuesday dismissed six Food Inspectors from service on charges of shortages in government wheat stocks, misappropriation, and causing financial loss to national kitty.
Cases will be registered against corrupt elements and losses caused to the national exchequer will be recovered, Sindh Food Minister Makhdoom Mehboob uz Zaman reaffirmed in a statement issued here.
Expressing zero tolerance towards embezzlement of government stocks, misuse of authority, and any form of corruption against the public interest, the Food Department carried strict departmental action, following the due process, against officers found involved in corrupt practices.
The dismissed officers include Food Inspectors Sharif Bhutto, Mumtaz Ali Jatoi, Bashir Ahmed Magsi, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Naseebullah Brohi, and Muhammad Ali Ujan.
As per the departmental orders, the recovery of the loss caused to the national exchequer will be ensured under the relevant laws while in some cases criminal proceedings will be initiated against the responsible officers.
Makhdoom Mehboob uz Zaman stated that corruption, embezzlement, and dishonesty involving public resources are unacceptable in any form, saying that measures under a zero-tolerance policy will continue to ensure transparency, integrity, and accountability in the Food Department. The Sindh Government is taking measures to ensure the supply of affordable and quality wheat flour to the public, the effective protection of wheat stocks and improvement in the department, he added.
The minister directed the relevant authorities to take all such cases to their logical conclusion and to further strengthen the monitoring system to prevent such irregularities in the future.
