Sindhi Language Authority pays tribute to Niaz Humayooni, Allama I.I.Qazi

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Apr, 2026) The Sindhi language authority organized an online discussion on the occasion of the 96th birthday of Sindh's famous poet Niaz Humayuni and the 58th birthday of Sindh's famous scholar Allama II Qazi.

Talking about Niaz Humayoni, the famous writer of Sindh Taj Joyo said Niaz Humayoni started poetry before the partition of the subcontinent and he was considered among the poets of freedom. He gave new things and new topics in poetry, while his contribution in writing long poems is his major contribution.

He said Niaz Humayoni was a multi-faceted personality, he taught in the medical college of Hyderabad and also taught wisdom in Shikarpur. He also wrote three more books on medicine.

He said, "Niaz knew different languages, he also translated the book of Sayyin GM Syed into Persian, while he also translated Imam Khomeini's poetry into Sindhi under the name of "Rah Ishq". Talking about the famous scholar Allama II Qazi of Sindh, the famous writer and journalist Niaz Panhwar said, "We are fortunate to be born from the soil of Sindh."

He started his education in Hyderabad then Aligarh and London, adding, he was a greedy for education who did not limit himself to special knowledge but he was curious about every knowledge because he was also proficient in chemistry, physics, philosophy and law.

Allama Sahib brought this knowledge to Sindh and later played a vital role in establishing the University of Sindh, where he paid special attention to the fields of science.

He said that Allama II Qazi also worked on science, literature and poetry, arranged Shah Latif's poetry and worked on Shah's magazine with his sister Elsa Qazi. Considering the amount of work he did and the kind of service he had, let us remember him only on his death and birthday.

While hosting the online discussion, the chairman of the institution Dr. Sher Mehrani said the Sindhi language Authority has always honored its benefactors.

He said, "Allama II Qazi had the idea of Oxford and Harvard University in Sindh. He wanted Sindh University to be a university of these standards. When the university was transferred from Karachi to Jamshori, he supervised all the work himself. Talking about Niaz Humayuni, Dr. Sher Mehrani said that he was the representative poet of Sindh. The political, social and economic conditions of those times can be seen in his poetry. Both personalities hold an extremely important position in the history of Sindh.
