HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Apr, 2026) The Hyderabad SITE Association of Trade and Industry (HSATI) has expressed strong reservations over the decision to suspend gas supply to industries across Sindh for 24 hours on April 13.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, the association's Chairman, Zubair Ghangra said the step had been taken at a time when industries were already forced to continue their production with limited gas pressure and uncertain supply.

He added that when the industrial wheel was already being run with limited gas supply for six days a week, a complete shutdown for another 24 hours would further harm the industrial production.

"Not only industrial production will be severely affected, timely fulfillment of export orders will also be at risk," he cautioned, pointing out that export delays would also damage Pakistan’s reputation in the global market.

Ghangra said that the livelihood of workers employed in factories would also be directly affected while the increase in production costs would become an inevitable challenge for industries.

He stressed that gas shortage was a reality that could be denied but its solution should not be unilateral closure of industries.

He emphasized that a comprehensive and balanced strategy should be adopted to deal with the problem. He demanded that the government and relevant institutions should issue a prior and workable gas schedule for industries; ensure gas supply to export industries on priority basis and avoid such decisions without consulting stakeholders.

The association's Chairman also called for immediate steps to promote alternative energy sources such as Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), Regasified Liquified Natural Gas (RLNG) and solar. He urged the government to review the 24-hour suspension decision.
