LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Monday conducted operations against
the adulteration mafia in the provincial capital and imposed fines of
Rs 195,000 on six food points.
During the crackdown, the enforcement teams of PFA raided 10 units
and sealed three of them, besides getting arrested two accused after
registration of an FIR.
Food safety teams confiscated a supplier vehicle carrying 800 kilograms
of used ghee intended for supply. The teams also discarded 50 kg china
salt and 40 liters of substandard soda water.
PFA DG Muhammad Asim Javaid said that the supplier was transporting
used oil and ghee in a concealed manner, while failing to provide mandatory
records and documentation.
He said that a soda water plant was sealed
after its samples failed due to preparation using chemicals without proper
formulation. He said that a well-known Sajji restaurant was also closed
over poor hygiene conditions, while another unit involved in production
and packaging of food without a license was sealed.
He said that strict action was being taken against those playing with
human lives in the name of food, adding that complete elimination of
the adulteration mafia at every level remains the authority’s top priority.
He further stated that continuous operations were being carried out
across the province in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab
to curb food adulteration.
