FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Jun, 2026) The police have finalized an extensive smart policing and surveillance-based security plan for Muharram-ul-Haram while City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain directed police officers to ensure foolproof protection of all mourning processions and religious gatherings in addition to taking indiscriminate action against miscreants and the elements spreading hate material on social media.

The directives were issued during a meeting held at the Police Lines Complex under the chairmanship of CPO Tanveer Hussain to review security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. The meeting was attended by SSP Operations Imran Ahmad Malik, SSP Investigation Ahmad Nawaz, SPs, SDPOs, SHOs and other senior police officers.

According to police spokesperson Tariq Jutt, the participants conducted a detailed review of law and order, potential security challenges and the implementation of a comprehensive smart policing strategy for the sacred month.

The meeting approved a comprehensive security plan for ensuring foolproof protection for all mourning processions and majalis across the city. It was decided to deploy additional police personnel at sensitive locations and strengthen surveillance measures to effectively respond to any security threat.

Speaking on the occasion, the CPO directed police officers to immediately complete installation of modern CCTV cameras along procession routes and around venues hosting religious gatherings.

He also ordered round-the-clock monitoring to ensure timely detection and prevention of any suspicious activity.

Emphasizing the importance of community engagement, CPO Tanveer Hussain instructed circle officers to maintain constant liaison with religious scholars, peace committee members and license holders. He stressed that close coordination among stakeholders was imperative for preserving sectarian harmony and ensuring the peaceful conduct of Muharram activities.

The meeting also reviewed preventive security measures under the Tenant Registration System (TRS).

Police officers were directed to conduct strict checking of hotels, inns and rented properties and to maintain vigilant monitoring of suspicious individuals and movements throughout the city.

To enhance field security and emergency response capabilities, the police decided to increase patrolling by Tracker Bikes, Elite Force units and regular patrol teams. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring prompt and effective response to emergency calls received through the Police Helpline 15.

The CPO said that maintaining peace and protecting the lives and property of citizens is top priority of Faisalabad police. He warned that strict action would be taken against the elements attempting to disturb law & order, incite sectarian hatred or disseminate inflammatory content through social media platforms.

He directed all officers to remain alert, perform their duties with professionalism and ensure visible policing in vulnerable areas to instill confidence among citizens during Muharram-ul-Haram.

Later, certificates of appreciation and cash rewards were distributed among police personnel who demonstrated outstanding performance.

Police officers showing unsatisfactory performance were reprimanded and directed to improve their efficiency and professional standards in the coming days.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment to maintain peace, strengthen public confidence and ensure that Muharram-ul-Haram is observed in an atmosphere of security, religious harmony and mutual respect throughout Faisalabad, police spokesman added.
