Sports vital for youth development & national progress: Sardar Muhammad Yousaf

MANSEHRA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf on Monday has said that sports are essential for the physical and mental development of youth and play a key role in strengthening national and social progress.

He stated that a healthy and active generation can contribute positively to society, while sports also promote discipline, teamwork, tolerance, and self-confidence among young people.

He expressed these views while addressing the concluding ceremony of the Malik Abdullah Memorial Volleyball Tournament held at Lassan Takkral, where 32 teams from across Hazara Division participated. A large number of spectators witnessed the final, along with former provincial ministers and local government representatives.

The federal minister said that sports play a vital role in the physical and mental development of youth. He emphasized that a healthy and active body not only improves personal performance but also enables individuals to contribute effectively to national and social development.

He further stated that sports help instill discipline, tolerance, teamwork, and self-confidence—qualities essential for the progress and prosperity of any society.

The minister added that the government is committed to providing maximum opportunities and facilities to young people in sports to steer them away from negative influences and social evils.

At the end of the ceremony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf distributed prizes among the winning teams.
